Senior AWS DevOps Engineer

As a Senior AWS DevOps Engineer, you will work with the development teams within Risk, Middle, and Back Office IT to support the current infrastructure and help build new systems that allow our business to scale.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for supporting and developing all aspects of the IaC in multiple environments.
• Ensure the reliability, availability and performance of applications in production. 
• Take ownership of automating repetitive tasks that require manual effort.
• Evangelise the SRE mindset with the development teams. 
• Build infrastructure at speed to allow the firm to innovate with new areas and help scale the business. 
• Being a main point of contact for the internal technology teams for any IaC queries.
• Work closely with the development teams to improve the observability of their applications.
• Embed with developers and be able to support, evangelise and drive SRE culture/practises in line with wider Infrastructure/Platform Engineering stakeholders.
   

KEY REQUIREMENTS

• 5+ years of prior working experience in DevOps and as a with IaC. 
• 5+ years of experience in managing and supporting cloud infrastructure.
• 5+ years of experience with AWS core services -IAM/EC2/S3/VPC/EKS/ECS/RDS/Route53/ASG/Lambda.
• Prior Experience with Shell/Bash/python scripting is mandatory.
• Prior Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is mandatory.
• Prior Knowledge of git-flow, SDLC and software engineering. 
• Prior Experience with Automation with Terraform, backend using  Hashicorp Terraform Cloud or similar.  
• Prior Experience in integrating, configuring and supporting – Github Actions/Jenkins/Helm/ArgoCD/Kustomize.
• Prior experience in configuring and troubleshooting with Datadog or similar observability tools (Prometheus/Grafana/Splunk / New Relic / AppDynamics)
• Prior Experience in other automation stacks, such as  Cloudformation/CDK, is desirable.
• Prior Experience working in a financial background is desirable.
• Knowledge of Apache Airflow/AWS Managed Airflow or similar scheduling tools is desirable.
• Understanding of  Opentelemetry (Logs/Metrics/Traces) is desirable.
• A proactive approach to spotting problems, areas for improvement, and performance bottlenecks.  
• Self-driven takes ownership very seriously and has a demonstrated mindset for automation.  
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science or related field.
